latest: CURRENCY UNION -
TaxpayerScotland, 3 July 2013
This short paper by TaxpayerScotland explains the relevance and potential impact of the SNP proposed currency union for Scottish taxpayers. The paper concludes that it is not impossible to have a currency union, but its survival would depend on strict control of fiscal policy. To achieve this, a binding democratic agreement on the size of state spending by taxpayers is necessary.
Policy Forum is where we welcome contributions from outside commentators. Here are a number of articles, papers and speeches by various authors on a range of public policy matters that relate to Scotland, as well as information on related news and events.
We believe in encouraging debate on Scotland’s future. Policy Forum is a platform for ideas that are not generated by Reform Scotland, but might not otherwise be published elsewhere. They add to the debate in the same tradition that inspires us – of a strong, free society where individual responsibility, diversity and prosperity are encouraged within a framework of limited government. The articles here are not attributable to Reform Scotland, and the views of authors are their own.
